ETD Technology for Implementers

Description

ETD implementers are the staff and faculty who are charged with designing, creating, and maintaining an ETD collection. This session discussess the technology issues facing ETD implementers. Anthony Atkins presents an overview of the process of designing and implementing an ETD collection. A particular focus will be identifying the communities of users who interact with ETDs, and selecting appropriate technologies to meet their needs. Two case studies are presented. The first is a demonstration of the ETD management software developed at Virginia Tech. Julian Long then presents an additional case study of the experiences implementing and maintaining an ETD collection at the University of North Texas.
