Authors: Jane Catherine Duffy

Abstract: This presentation offers an overview of the development of the Ohio State University trainins sessions for submission of electronic dissertations, from their conception in September, 200 to the current offering in Sprin 2002. The resistance to and refinement of these training sessions were a strong factor in their constantly evolving planning, content and design consideration. Reciprocally, the role of the Libraries sessions' marketing of ETD's as valid scholarly documents will also be examined. Highlights of these marketing features include demonstration of 1) current barrers to access of print theses and dissertations; 2) the citation impact and multimedia capabilities of electronic dissertations; 3) the role of the National Digital Library of Theses and Disssertations as global disseminator of free scholarly information. The presentation includes slides from past and current ETD training sessions at Ohio State University Libraries.
